Australia's Garden State
Fly for Real in Golden Scenery
Welcome to Australia's southernmost mainland state – Victoria -- and its capital, Melbourne. Victoria is famous for three things: the gold rush, the Ned Kelly gang, and delicious wines. It also hosts the annual Australian National Airshow. But there's a lot more when it comes to scenery, including the magnificent Great Ocean Road which is counted amongst the most scenic coastal roads in the world.
Silver Screen Fame
The story of the Kelly gang claims to be the world's first full length feature film and was, of course, filmed within Victoria's scenery, as was the recent remake Ned Kelly. Victoria was also portrayed in the Picknick at Hanging Rock, which not surprisingly features Hanging Rock, a rare volcanic rock formation. The Man from Snowy River was filmed in the scenic Victorian Alpine Region, and Mad Max was also filmed at several locations in Victoria.
Our Promise
Whether you explore the scenic and rugged Victorian Alps in the east with their pristine mountain lakes, or the tamer volcanic mountain ranges and the crater lakes in the west. Whether you're exploring the complex coastal island network of the Gippsland Lakes or the mighty Murray River which forms the border between Victoria and New South Wales. Every single flight in Victoria should give you plenty of enjoyment and as close to the real thing as possible - this is our promise!
Explore Victoria
Visit Famous Nature
The state of Victoria is the size of about 237,000 sq km, which is a bit smaller than the UK and the same size as Minnesota. It offers plenty of scenery, of which the Great Ocean Road is the most famous, attracting seven million visitors a year. This statistic is amazing considering that the whole population of Victoria barely tops five million! Almost one-fifth of Victoria's total area is protected. Over one-third of its area is covered in forest and there are a total of 36 national parks. If you want to experience scenery at its finest, look no further. This scenery add-on will deliver.
Explore Stunning Coastlines
Roughly half of Victoria's border is made up of coast, and Victoria offers several highlights. The most famous coastal stretch is the Great Ocean Road with its 12 Apostles, which is a total of 263 km long. But Victoria offers other coastal stretches, including some national parks, the coastal island network of the Gippsland Lakes, Wilson's Promontory, Cape Campbell, and of course Ninety Mile Beach, which is one of the longest beaches in the world. The other half of the border is formed by the mighty Murray River, which has a total length of 2,500 km. The river itself is a very complex system of little intertwining streams which makes it a nice scenic feature to explore in your aircraft.
Fly Above Spectacular Lakes and Rivers
To the east you'll find the Victorian Alps which includes another scenic road stretch, the Great Alpine Road, which is 308 km long. Nestled amongst the mountains you will find scenic mountain lakes and little rivers that follow the terrain to the dot. In contrast, Eastern Victoria is dominated by an ancient field of extinct volcanoes and volcanic rock formations. The area is riddled with little crater lakes and watching the sunset reflecting in this network of lakes on a late evening cruise is truly magical.
Visit Melbourne
An essential part of Victoria is its capital city Melbourne. You can now see the Yarra River wind its way through this city of four million people. Since we’ve added the complete transport network of Victoria, you can find every single residential road of Melbourne in this scenery. You also get the complete commuter train network. To top it off, we included hundreds of sports fields and golf courses giving the city a more realistic look. Now you can feel at home in Melbourne.
Follow the Real Road Network
This scenery add-on rounds up the 20 m mesh to give you an unbelievably realistic representation of Victoria's natural landscapes. However, it also brings you a realistic representation of Victoria's manmade infrastructure. This add-on includes the complete road network from the highways to little ancillary urban roads. This completely changes your experience as you fly over built up areas. Suddenly the road network looks more natural, as the roads follow the terrain. All roads are classified as sealed or dirt and look appropriate. We incorporated tunnels and bridges and our scenery roads don't run over mountains where real life tunnels are. Aside from roads we also added the current rail network including tunnels and bridges. All of the roads, railway tracks, tunnels, and bridges that you'll see in our scenery are what you would really see if you were exploring Victoria yourself – for real.
Land Your Plane on 400 Airstrips in VFR Paradise
Of course, there's even more scenery. Imagine you could land on tiny airstrips that are only accessible to local farmers and private operators. This package includes over 400 of these tiny airstrips! To top it off, we included other manmade structures like power lines, golf courses, races tracks, sports fields, and TV and radio masts. The golf courses and race tracks add further character to the built up areas and help you navigate on cross country flights. The power pylons, TV and radio masts add to the flying challenge because now you have to deal with obstructions that are there in real life - just like real pilots do.
Real Roads and Rivers
Essential for Your Real VFR Flight
Roads and Rivers of Victoria is a topography product. Topographical vector data defines the water bodies and transport networks in Flight Simulator. A quality topography can turn the generic default landscape of Flight Simulators that only include very few and heavily simplified roads and rivers that cut across the landscape without regard to the terrain into a much more realistic representation of the local roads and rivers. Now the rivers won't run uphill. Instead they will follow the mountain gorges to the dot; rivers in open planes will wind their way back and forth and are part of a much more realistic landscape. The roads won't simply cut across mountains, they wind their way up and down just like in the real world. In built-up areas, there are real road networks that include every single mapped road. Coastlines look like real coastlines with complex island systems and mazes of little inlets. Every single mapped lake and island is included, many of these just a few square metres big. All in all, this add-on makes the landscape look very real and flying in it gives you the impression of really being there.
The Only VFR Solution, Even for FSX
There is absolutely no doubt that our topography blows away what FS2004 offers by default. There is no comparison. But what sort of differences can you expect to the FSX default? FSX includes better data for Australia over FS2004, but our data still blows the default apart. Microsoft is using much less detailed data than we are and only includes a very small selection of roads. Our add-on remains the only solution available if you want to see real roads and rivers.
Superior Realism
How Do We Deliver a High Level of Realism?
You're probably asking yourself how we can create such highly realistic topographies that no one else offers. Our secret is that we are an exclusive licensee of top quality commercial data. Our data provider is the geospatial company Geomatic Technologies, which supplied us with commercial 1:50,000 topography data. Their customers are professional entities who rely on high quality and accuracy on a day to day basis. The good news is that we supply you with the very same topography. The accuracy of this data is between 10 m and 20 m over the whole area. You can absolutely rely on this data to give you a real flight sim experience.
Professional Quality
Use the Same Scenery that the Pros Use
When we say this scenery is real, we do mean REAL. Our scenery is used in professional flight sim environments where data quality and reliability is of uttermost importance. What that means for you is that this topographical data really is as close to the real thing as possible. Mt. Cook Airlines has used our data to evaluate a GPS approach used by Qantas into Queenstown Airport - to discover their own airplanes would crash into the nearby mountains if they used this approach. Westpak Rescue Helicopters is using our data to plan and simulate real-life rescue missions. Flight Experience is using it to enhance their simulator operations. A significant number of real-life pilots are using our data for cross country flight training and planning. Do you dream of flying for real? Why not enhance your experience the same way real pilots do?

what the professionals say
We use the Red Baron Entertainment NZ scenery from GeographX Ltd in the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust helicopter simulator. It enables us to accurately fly ‘virtually’ to any destination in our operational area, and know that the coastlines, mountains, lakes, roads and even power pylons are in the correct place. This is extremely useful in training for real life situations, where the terrain might otherwise only be known by reference to two dimensional maps. We are currently trialing use of the very accurate mesh as a preflight aid to real missions, again as a means of gaining knowledge literally of the lay-of-the-land. Great technology.

Westpac Rescue Helicopter Trust
At Flight Experience we have developed a high end entertainment device that gives the general public a chance to experience what happens up the pointy end of a Jet airliner. The choice of using the add-on sceneries created by the team at Red Baron Entertainment was an easy one to make. Christian and the team have taken flight simulation to a new level with their mesh, topographical and area sceneries. Our customers are continually amazed with the level of detail these sceneries provide. We offer flights around New Zealand in our simulator and given the entertainment value we are looking to provide the scenery is without doubt the best example we have seen. If you're looking to add realism to your simulation experience then look no further, it doesn't get any better than this.

what our customers say
It’s nice to know you are not forgotten when you have bought a product. Installation went well and as per the instructions. The difference between the Microsoft scenery and the new installation is incredible. As soon as the Sim Pilot scenery was installed everything was recognisable. In the Microsoft scenery the Murray River is not there, while in your scenery not only is the river there but all the Ox Bow lakes and tributaries. Having spent a fair amount of time around the Albury area I know it quite well and was able to recognise many places instantly. I will look forward to flying all over Victoria in the coming months and am eagerly awaiting scenery add-ons for other parts of the country. Well done to you all
Kevin Wood, Garforth, United Kingdom
I was very impressed with your products. I have flown around some parts of Victoria at altitudes between 3000 and 8000 feet and found the improvement made VFR flying much more enjoyable.
Radley Ambrose, Melbourne, Australia
I heard nothing but great reviews so I grabbed it and was blown away. Roads rivers and mountains combined with the south eastern VOZ region is something to behold. I was starting to stray overseas but now i'm happy to say i'm back home. Thankyou for a great product, you have yourself one happy customer.
Gary Hitchings, Melbourne, Australia
I am currently working towards my Private Pilot's License in Melbourne. Victoria mesh & topo provides such an excellent representation of the Victorian area that it is aiding me in my VFR flying practice. It also adds enjoyment to simming. I also own NZ mesh & topo, which provides for stunning scenery and helps me explore my homeland. A pilot friend of mine is also amazed at the Victorian representation, and agreed it is useful for VFR practice. I have also received excellent post-sales support from Christian.

any questions?
Q: Does the topo work with FSX?
A: Yes. You need to install the patch from the support page. This is only a patch to make the FS2004 version work in FSX. There are two minor issues: the animated cars may not drive on the roads and small areas of large lakes may not be flat and in rare cases show rocky textures. Both issues aren't fixable with a patch. Having said that, this FS2004 version dramatically improves the scenery in FSX looks even more mind blowing than in FS2004.
Q: Will there be an FSX topo and when will it be released?
A: We are planning an FSX version with many enhanced features. This will be a new product (developed from scratch) and won't be available until 2008. It will be available at similar cost than the FS2004 version, however if you own the FS2004 version, you will get a discount.
Q: Why isn't the mesh scenery (Mountains of Victoria) included in this package?
A: Some people may only want one package, but not both. This way, they don't need to pay a higher price for a combined package, but can save money by only buying one.
Q: Is this scenery compatible with VOZ?
A: Yes, it is. In fact we highly recommend using VOZ in conjunction with this scenery!
