Australia's Garden State
Fly for Real in Golden Scenery
Welcome to Australia's southernmost mainland state – Victoria -- and its capital, Melbourne. Victoria is famous for three things: the gold rush, the Ned Kelly gang, and delicious wines. It also hosts the annual Australian National Airshow. But there's a lot more when it comes to scenery, including the magnificent Great Ocean Road which is counted amongst the most scenic coastal roads in the world.
Silver Screen Fame
The story of the Kelly gang claims to be the world's first full length feature film and was, of course, filmed within Victoria's scenery, as was the recent remake Ned Kelly. Victoria was also portrayed in the Picknick at Hanging Rock, which not surprisingly features Hanging Rock, a rare volcanic rock formation. The Man from Snowy River was filmed in the scenic Victorian Alpine Region, and Mad Max was also filmed at several locations in Victoria.
Our Promise
Whether you explore the scenic and rugged Victorian Alps in the east or the tamer volcanic mountain ranges and rock formations in the west, every single flight in Victoria should give you plenty of enjoyment and is as close to the real thing as possible - that is our promise!
Explore Victoria
Visit Famous Nature
The state of Victoria is the size of about 237,000 sq km, which is a bit smaller than the UK and the same size as Minnesota. It offers plenty of scenery, of which the Great Ocean Road is the most famous, attracting seven million visitors a year. This statistic is amazing considering that the whole population of Victoria barely tops five million! Almost one-fifth of Victoria's total area is protected. Over one-third of its area is covered in forest and there are a total of 36 national parks. If you want to experience scenery at its finest, look no further. This scenery add-on will deliver.
Explore the Rugged Alps
Victoria includes the southern part of the Great Dividing Range, Australia's longest mountain chain. Part of the Great Dividing Range is made up of the Australian Alps, which include Australia's highest mountains and form much of Victoria's eastern part. The highest peak is Mt. Bogong which is just a few metres short of 2,000 m. To experience this area for real, you need a 20 m mesh, which gives you all of the realistic mountain details.
Fly Above Dormant Volcanoes
To the west you will find an ancient field of now dormant volcanoes and the Grampians amongst other mountainous regions of volcanic origin. The Grampians are well known for their almost vertical sandstone formations and the highest peak tops 1,100 m. If you want to experience these, you need the 20 m mesh. With the 20 m mesh, you'll also find the craters in dormant volcanoes and you can also find ancient lava flows - this is the detail that this mesh offers.
This scenery add-on lets you experience all of this almost like you could in real life. There are dozens and dozens of places to explore in this scenery. You have the freedom to explore Victoria without ever visiting - this is the next best thing to booking a holiday and hiring a real plane.
Fly in Real Mountains
Essential for Your Real VFR Flight
Mountains of Victoria is a mesh product. Mesh basically defines the shape of the mountains in Flight Simulator. A good quality mesh can turn a landscape of generic, uninspiring hills into an exciting landscape with dramatic mountains full of mindboggling ridges, cliffs, and deep cut valleys. It can make mountains look much more realistic, giving you the immersive feeling of really being there while you observe a much more complex network of light and shadows created by rock outcrops and other natural irregularities that don't exist in low quality mesh. For many VFR pilots a good quality mesh is essential for an enjoyable VFR flight.
20 m Gives You Incredible Realism
There is absolutely no doubt that our mesh blows away what FS2004 offers by default. There is no comparison. But what sort of difference can you expect compared to other freeware meshes or to the FSX default? These meshes are derived from the freely available SRTM meshes. SRTM meshes have a resolution of 90 m. Compare this to our resolution of 20 m. This means that our resolution is four and a half times better. This is like comparing a one megapixel digital photo camera to a four and a half megapixel photo camera. On top of that, SRTM is often plagued with groundbreaking issues. Regions that have been covered by clouds during SRTM data capture can look nasty. Our mesh doesn't have any of these issues.
Superior Mesh
How Do We Beat All the Other Mesh Products?
You're probably asking yourself how we can create a mesh that's superior to other available meshes. Our secret is that we are an exclusive licensee of top quality commercial data. Our data provider is the geospatial company Geomatic Technologies, which delivers Victoria's highest quality terrain model currently available. Their customers are professional entities who rely on high quality and accuracy on a day to day basis. The good news is that we supply you with the very same terrain model. The accuracy of this data is between 10 m and 20 m over the whole area. There are no flaws such as missing areas or spikes and sinkholes which you tend to get in free meshes. You can absolutely rely on this data to give you a real flight sim experience.
Professional Quality
Use the Same Scenery that the Pros Use
When we say this scenery is real, we do mean REAL. Our scenery is used in professional flight sim environments where data quality and reliability is of uttermost importance. What that means for you is that this mesh really is as close to the real thing as possible. Mt. Cook Airlines has used our data to evaluate a GPS approach used by Qantas into Queenstown Airport - to discover their own airplanes would crash into the nearby mountains if they used this approach. Westpak Rescue Helicopters is using our data to plan and simulate real-life rescue missions. Flight Experience is using it to enhance their simulator operations. A significant number of real-life pilots are using our data for cross country flight training and planning. Do you dream of flying for real? Why not enhance your experience the same way real pilots do?

what the professionals say
We use the Red Baron Entertainment NZ scenery from GeographX Ltd in the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust helicopter simulator. It enables us to accurately fly ‘virtually’ to any destination in our operational area, and know that the coastlines, mountains, lakes, roads and even power pylons are in the correct place. This is extremely useful in training for real life situations, where the terrain might otherwise only be known by reference to two dimensional maps. We are currently trialing use of the very accurate mesh as a preflight aid to real missions, again as a means of gaining knowledge literally of the lay-of-the-land. Great technology.

Westpac Rescue Helicopter Trust
At Flight Experience we have developed a high end entertainment device that gives the general public a chance to experience what happens up the pointy end of a Jet airliner. The choice of using the add-on sceneries created by the team at Red Baron Entertainment was an easy one to make. Christian and the team have taken flight simulation to a new level with their mesh, topographical and area sceneries. Our customers are continually amazed with the level of detail these sceneries provide. We offer flights around New Zealand in our simulator and given the entertainment value we are looking to provide the scenery is without doubt the best example we have seen. If you're looking to add realism to your simulation experience then look no further, it doesn't get any better than this.

what our customers say
This Mesh transforms Victoria and highlights the Areas Natural Scenic Beauty in so many ways. It's been fantastic to fly around Victoria, as suddenly it's in 3d! and theres another WOW moment over every hill...
Maurice Smith, East Kilbride, Scotland
My experience with Mountains of Victoria has been excellent - absolutely painless purchase and installation and, used in conjunction with VOZ, it is a very special simming experience. It's very hard to get excited about FSX with detail like this now available in FS2004 and the release Roads and Rivers of Victoria will be the icing on the cake.
Geoff, Traralgon, Australia
I am loving the Vic Mesh. I have been flipping around Bendigo Mount Macedon and Latrobe Valley and Banella. All fantastic mate, and there are no performance issues!
Daniel Smith, Perth, Australia
It’s nice to know you are not forgotten when you have bought a product. Installation went well and as per the instructions. The difference between the Microsoft scenery and the new installation is incredible. As soon as the Sim Pilot scenery was installed everything was recognisable. In the Microsoft scenery the Murray River is not there, while in your scenery not only is the river there but all the Ox Bow lakes and tributaries. Having spent a fair amount of time around the Albury area I know it quite well and was able to recognise many places instantly. I will look forward to flying all over Victoria in the coming months and am eagerly awaiting scenery add-ons for other parts of the country. Well done to you all
Kevin Wood, Garforth, United Kingdom
I heard nothing but great reviews so I grabbed it and was blown away. Roads rivers and mountains combined with the south eastern VOZ region is something to behold. I was starting to stray overseas but now i'm happy to say i'm back home. Thankyou for a great product, you have yourself one happy customer.
Gary Hitchings, Melbourne, Australia
I am currently working towards my Private Pilot's License in Melbourne. Victoria mesh & topo provides such an excellent representation of the Victorian area that it is aiding me in my VFR flying practice. It also adds enjoyment to simming. I also own NZ mesh & topo, which provides for stunning scenery and helps me explore my homeland. A pilot friend of mine is also amazed at the Victorian representation, and agreed it is useful for VFR practice. I have also received excellent post-sales support from Christian.

any questions?
Q: Does this mesh work with FSX?
A: Yes! The mesh is fully compatible with FSX.
Q: There are some rumours that FSX supports a superior mesh format. Will there be a patch to make use of the new FSX features?
A: This rumour is false. While FSX supports smaller mesh files, at the same time the mesh is degraded. Since we offer the highest quality for your maximum enjoyment we don't want to degrade our meshes. The FSX mesh building tools also make it easier for novice scenery designers to build better meshes (especially at medium distances). However, due to our experience we have always supplied meshes that perform well at medium distances - in fact we have done so since FS2000 (see also question below). In effect, the FSX meshes do not have any advantage over older meshes. Therefore, we can continue to offer our existing meshes and you still benefit from the highest quality possible!
Q: Why isn't the topographical scenery (Roads & Rivers of Victoria) included in this package?
A: Some people may only want one package, but not both. If you prefer to have both sceneries, we offer them as a combo package at reduced price!
Q: Does this mesh work in conjunction with meshes that cover the whole world?
A: Yes, it does. Our professional high resolution mesh will override lower quality mesh, giving you the best of both worlds - a (typically) 90 m mesh all over the world and a local 20 m mesh in Victoria.
Q: Is this scenery compatible with VOZ and FTX Blue?
A: Yes, it is. In fact we highly recommend using VOZ or FTX Blue in conjunction with this scenery!
Q: Does the 20 m mesh include lower resolutions (e.g., the 40 m mesh)?
A: Yes, it does! In fact, it includes all available mesh resolutions (20m – 150 m) since this gives a better appearance in MSFS at medium distances.
